Pike Arms® new manufacture PPS-43 SMG barrels are chambered in the more
popular and inexpensive 9MM NATO (9MM Luger, 9x19) and are a high
quality
replacement for the increasingly difficult to obtain original barrels
and are much more affordable to shoot in 9mm than the original 7.62x25
ammunition.
Each barrel is precision CNC manufactured in the USA by Pike Arms® from
new production certified barrel grade steel and available in your choice
of either "in the white" with no finish or with a black military
parkerized / phosphate
finish for an additional $15. Please select your preference above when
ordering.
Barrels are completely finished to include chambered and profiled, and are ready for you to install. The barrels are manufactured for standard machine gun trunions to be compatible with machine gun production from most countries. However PPS-43 and clones were manufactured by many different countries and manufacturers, depending on your rifle, its possible that some MINOR fitting could be required on the barrel to trunion fit depending on your actual trunion diameter.
It is your responsibility to know and comply with all federal, state
and local laws regarding barrel length for your firearm. The 10" SMG
length barrels are designed for machine guns, pistols or registered
short barrel rifles per NFA regulations and are not intended for
semi-auto rifle builds without adding additional length. You should
contact ATF for specific barrel length requirements in the event you
have any questions.
The change from shooting the original and expensive 7.62x25 to this 9MM barrel requires only a simple swapping of the barrel. The bolts are the same and the magazines are compatible. Whether you have a gun with the original barrel or you have a kit with no barrel, you can now shoot less expensive and readily available 9mm ammo in your PPS-43 at a price that will very quickly pay for the barrel in ammo cost savings.
Note however that 9mm ammunition will usually require you to shoot heavier bullets and
hotter loads since the original 7.62x25 ammo has considerably more
recoil force than 9mm ammunition. If you are trying to shoot light 115g
range ammunition, it will often not consistently cycle with enough
force to reliably recoil the heavy bolt and spring. An easy solution is
to either shoot heavier bullets and hotter ammunition or customers have
lightened their bolt by removing some metal by either drilling or
milling and the lighter bolt then matches the lesser recoil force of 9mm
ammunition.
